Guía Fotográfica de Sevilla

The Guía Fotográfica vol.1 is an artist’s guide to their adopted city. The 141 images were made on Manzana and Jorge de Montemayor street between 2020 and 2024 as part of an ongoing series collected in @onlyensevilla. The first volume starts off Michael’s visual journey the street he moved to shortly before the 2020 pandemic.  The images and related texts document the major life events and daily experiences of the author. Occasional QR codes peppered throughout invite the reader to play along and visit Manzana and Jorge de Montemayor streets through the use of QR codes linking Google’s Streetview time travel functionality and location data gathered with each image.

The social media series uses various online platforms to organize and store the visual stimuli encountered in the daily wanderings of the artist   The data collected is informative and paired with QR codes is playful in nature while also inviting questions as to the increasingly invasive, and necessary nature of these platforms as society continues to build new ecosystems revolving around their core data collection functions.
